Shafts and bevel-gear pairs transmit motion to the four-cam valve train. Long bevel-drive shafts drive the exhaust camshafts; short shafts transfer the drive to the intake camshafts. Selection depends on the engine version, the affected cylinder group and the existing mating gears.
